Applied Vision Flow Lab Mission Statement
Our mission is to bring the happiness and joy of flow arts to the world. We are working to build a community of people that can grow from each other. Flow arts are defined as, "The emerging movement-based artforms that integrate dance and creative exploration of movement with skill-based prop manipulation. In discovering flow arts, the capabilities that we possess as individuals can be realized, so that individuals can overcome limitations and grow to their fullest potential. We established Applied Vision Flow Lab to help individuals empower their mind and become in tune with their body. We aim to open people's eyes to the past, present, and future of self expression. Flow props have been used as a form of self expression for many centuries. Poi were used by the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand to improve flexibility and strength in their hands and arms as well as enhance coordination and fine motor skills. Wahine (female) dancers perform the Maori Poi, a dance performed with balls attached to flax strings, swung rhythmically. We hope to reach out in many ways to share what we have learned through our time in the flow arts by hosting community outreach projects, public education campaigns, and fundraisers to benefit the community.
A.V. Flow Lab Growth Experiment
Visions: Many of the visions we have as we are on this journey are focused around how we can bring the joys of flow arts to others as well as bringing communities together. Common goals help us align ourselves with things we wish to accomplish. Oftentimes goals can seem out of reach or so grand that they may seem impossible for one person. This is why we are working together on common goals. So that many dreams may come to pass. We can grow together. This vision and growth experiment is one way we are trying to do so. We want to learn. We want to teach. We want to bring people together. We want to uplift and better ourselves and communities. Our visions have included but have not been limited to making and selling affordable practice props, joining others in skill shares, being a part of local events, learning with others, teaching others, hosting flow meetups, hosting flow focused events, public park cleanup, nature area cleanup and preserve, flow arts for youth, flow arts for elderly.
Growth: Growth is apart of all things in this world. There are many forms and ways to grow as well. Physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, skillfully, are just a few. The ideas we hold can help us or others grow. As if two minds being better then one. So this is how we hope to focus our growth. By Sharing our ideas with one another in regards to flow arts and our goals. We can allow our ideas and visions of what we wish to accomplish inspire others to grow. As well as growing ourselves. Within the flow arts we can practice physical, mental, skillful, and maybe even spiritual growth. By coming together with our common goals we can achieve more than if we were alone.Lets come together with personal and community growth in mind. Bringing ideas and knowledge to each other and our community. We can do great things. Applied Vision Flow Lab has some goals in mind. And others to be set. There are no limits to what we can do with the flow. Where challenge is met with focus. We hope to bring together more than just flow artists. Musicians, DJ’s, Artists, Painters, Wire Wrappers, and so much more.
